Upgrading to PHP7.0 in a CentOS server with VestaCP
20 October, 2016

Upgrading to PHP 7.0 was like a mess. I was struggling with the issue for several days. Today, I’m writing a way to upgrade PHP 7.0.

Repositories Configuration:

wget https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-X.noarch.rpm
wget http://rpms.remirepo.net/enterprise/remi-release-X.rpm
rpm -Uvh remi-release-7.rpm epel-release-latest-X.noarch.rpm

Replace X with your OS version(6,7)

Active remi-php70 Repository

yum-config-manager --enable remi-php70

if there is any error like “yum-config-manager command not found”, then you will have to install “yum-utils”.

yum update && yum install yum-utils

After installing “yum-utils” active “remi-php70” repository.

Update PHP

yum update

Now, PHP 5.x will be upgraded to latest version of PHP(7.0).

Restart your httpd server to view changes.

yum httpd restart

That’s All!
